About

Hi, I’m Eirlys, and I have a passion for back-door harvests, including yours!

Experience

I’ve been growing food in urban settings since 1999, both in private gardens and community spaces. My professional garden maintenance experience includes Blooming Gardens, Hilary Barber Garden Services (both in Bristol, UK), and Yummy Yards, a Community Supported Agriculture project based in the urban back yards of Vancouver, Canada.

Education

I studied RHS Horticulture to Level 3 at the University of Bristol Botanical Gardens, and Permaculture Deisgn at Richmond College, London. I’m well equipped to care for all the non-edible parts of your garden, alongside the parts you’ll nibble.

On my bike

I propel myself and my tools by bicycle – it’s the way I roll ;-). I can include lawn-mowing and trimming as part of my service, but please note that I do not provide the mower.

Languages

I can provide harvest advice in English or Welsh. If you and your family/household speak another language I’m more than happy to learn plant names in that language, to help you feel connected with your garden.

And the rest

I also blog about my travels in edible gardening – Harvest of Mistakes. I sometimes organize cultural activities about plants and food issues. I support local farmers and growing networks at both a local and a global level, and work towards edible gardens being part of a practical, responsible and and sustainable food system.
